Uite c-a trecut repede o luna pentru VIra Films. Nu putem spune ca s-au intamplat prea multe, si totusi… s-au intamplat.

Eu mi-am luat licenta (se indoia cineva de asta?) si am plecat in munti, unde m-am intalnit cu niste polonezi. Despre vodka, chitara dupa miezu noptii, frig, mahmureala si leganatul trenului n-am sa vorbesc acum. In schimb pot sa va spun ca sunt in Barlad, impreuna cu parintii mei, care va saluta pe aceasta cale. Partea creativa din VIra Films se odihneste.

Bogdan a fost primit la Aristoteles Workshop, banuim noi ca printr-o conjuctura paranormala, cum ar fi alinierea planetelor din sistemul solar. Daca nu asta al nostru, macar unul apropiat. Voi intreba un specialist in astrofizica si cand voi avea un raspuns… Dupa mustacelile dese, mailurile criptice si noptile nedormite, puteti fi siguri ca ne pregateste ceva teribil. Partea muncitoare din VIra Films aduna idei, se incordeaza.

S-ar putea sa dispara la un moment dat continutul de pe site. Nu va ingrijorati, va fi un semn bun. Pana atunci, noapte buna, dragi prieteni.

Mi-a zis Bogdan: “mai pune ma niste clipuri de-alea cu Rare Footage” sau ceva asemanator si oricat ar fi de tentant sa pun filmul de la Constantin de-acasa am o vaga impresie ca sunt prea multe filme de genul ala deodata. Ca ar prinde bine niste schimbare de aer. In viitor vor fi conducte cu aer, iar noi vom avea tubuletele noastre, reincarcabile. Abonamentul lunar se va plati odata cu intretinerea, la parterul blocului.

Ca nu deviez prea tare de la subiect, ma gandeam sa povestesc cate ceva despre noi. Am fost zilele trecute (nu stiu cand, dar as putea afla foarte repede) la o conferinta sau un eveniment numit TEDx Bucuresti. Intrati pe ted.com si aflati acolo despre ce e vorba. Au fost cateva discursuri emotionante si ne-am facut niste relatii. Eu l-am sacait pe meseriasul (omul cu firele) de la acumlive.ro, Bogdan pe-o domnisoara pe care am uitat cum o cheama.

In rest, toate bune. Ma duc sa-mi cumpar o cutie de scobitori si o duzina de chibrituri. Am eu niste idei…

Exp #4 Gărgăriţa (or Demi-Sec)

Oh, the wonderful things that happen in the public space… “Get a camera. Shoot something. Show it to someone”. By the way, Bogdan told me he has filmed many things in the past two months. I’m anxious to see some samples (aren’t you?). But I think he’s busy now, working for the Counting… trailer.

“Gargarita” is a very cute insect that we loved to play with when we were younger. Now that we’ve grown up, we play with other things.
I think nobody watched the previous videos, so it’s time for a refreshing change. Well, this is the year of changes in the entire Europe. So why not post something beautiful, like trees? I don’t want to spoil your surprise if you haven’t seen the clip yet (trust me, it’s awesome).

If you were foolish enough to trust my advice you already know there is nothing interesting to be seen in this video. Yes, you wasted another 2 minutes of your precious time (but it’s not that much, is it?). Feel free to visit our blog again, from time to time. Have a nice day !

Rare Footage #2 Broken Guitar

Well, this is my first clip with “embeded” subtitles. I’m having troubles with both Subtitle Workshop and DivX Land Media Subtitler. I can’t make the subtitles synchronize properly or the program doesn’t support mpeg files. But I believe this will improve in time.

It was October, in Andreea’s living room. After rehearsing for the AMT concert we began improvising with several objects in the room. It all started with a broken guitar that emited an awful sound and we got excited with it (I know, we’re freaks). Then it turned into a jam session.
Shere Khan (the cat) was not harmed during “the shooting”. We don’t know what happened to him afterwards. Probably he met Stefan again and wasn’t that fortunate the second time.
Andreea’s father probably couldn’t sleep that night, but he didn’t say a word. Neither her neighbours. And we kept on playing throughout the night (this means other videos will come up soon).

Rare Footage #1 Lucian

Cleaning the dust of my dvd archive I ran into some old and very rare footage. Because we have friends waiting for us to hand over some video recordings I considered it to be a good occasion to post them on our blog.
I’ve made a “mini-series” with them, but it’s just footage, don’t expect to see catchy or elaborated montages, they are only collages or agglutinations of video. I also made a little experiment with an intro and outro, so please tell me what you think about it.

The first of these episodes introduces Lucian, a friend from Iasi who helped us in various occasions and has been a constant inspiration before the concerts.
In this video he plays two guitar pieces, one is a blues improvisation, and the other is a variation on Ciprian Porumbescu’s Ballad.
There are 5 montages with rehearsals for the AMT concert and a rather special one with Constantin and Alex.

Invitatie la intalnirea Vira 2009

Nu a fost niciodata clar, mai ales pentru noi, ce este Vira, ce inseamna si de unde vine. Nici acum nu prea ne este clar ce e virafilms. Pentru ca, vorba cuiva, nu ne-am invatat sa ne facem curat pe birou inainte de a ne apuca de scris. Totusi, incercam sa compensam in diferite moduri… si am reusit de-a lungul timpului sa instauram un fel de traditie.

Pe 17 aprilie 2004, grupul vira a organizat primul concert la Iasi, cu melodii pe versurile lui Alexandru Malin Tacu. Un an mai tarziu, in aprilie 2005, Stefan, Razvan si cei doi autori ai acestui blog s-au intalnit si au pus la cale continuare proiectului Malini, iar apoi au intrat in scena Adi, Ramona, Dana si restul oamenilor care au fondat Asociatia Vira. Dar nu mai intram in detalii care sunt deja istorie. Ideea este ca ne-am intalnit si in anii urmatori, transformand astfel ziua de 17 aprilie in ziua vira .

In 2009, vrem sa facem din intalnirea anuala vira, un eveniment putin mai anarhic. Am trimis deja mail cu link catre acest post unor oameni care au avut conexiuni stranse cu vira si ii rog sa o considere ca o invitatie. Pe langa asta, chiar simpla citire a acestei postari constituie o invitatie.

Pentru ca 17 este prea aproape de Paste, o sa ne vedem sambata 11 aprilie. Va rog sa confirmati pana duminica, prin orice mijloc de comunicare, daca vreti sa veniti in principiu. In felul asta vom avea timp sa facem o rezervare (mare, speram) in vreo bomba din centrul istoric.

Asteptam semne de la voi.

Counting tiny little steps

Cei dintre voi care ne cunosc stiu ca avem probleme cu organizarea timpului. Si nu e vorba doar de lipsa de punctualitate (unde matei este campion) ci si de faptul ca nu facem lucruri cand ar trebui sa le facem sau facem lucruri cand nu ar trebui sa le facem.

Asadar, cu o mica intarziere, incepem sa vorbim despre cel mai important proiect din cadrul Virafilms, documentarul despre dansurile Maruntele, inceput in mai 2007. Filmul terminat de curand, se numeste Trecusera doi cand m-am apucat de jucat, versiunea in engleza fiind Counting tiny little steps. Din echipa a facut parte si Simona care a mers cu noi pe teren, dar am primit si ajutor considerabil de la grupul nostru de prieteni (asupra acestui astept vom reveni mai tarziu, detaliat). In posturile viitoare vom povesti si cateva chestii interesante legate de folclorul din zona de mijloc a Moldovei. Acum ma grabesc sa trantesc o pagina cu poza de prezentare si un sinopsis direct in engleza.
